Dynatrace Advances AI Observability Platform with Major Innovations at Perform 2025

Dynatrace advances AI observability with preventive operations, enhanced security, developer tools, and platform engineering capabilities at Perform 2025.

Dynatrace (NYSE: DT) unveiled significant platform advancements at its annual Perform conference in Las Vegas, focusing on AI-powered observability, security, and developer experience. The announcements reflect Dynatrace's vision of transforming complex digital ecosystems into business assets through unified observability.

CEO Rick McConnell opened the conference by emphasizing how observability has evolved beyond basic monitoring to become critical for business acceleration. According to McConnell, "Observability isn't just about effective software dynamics. Increasingly, it is about leveraging data to drive business acceleration."

He highlighted Dynatrace's partnership with Formula 1 team Visa Cash App RB, underscoring the importance of millisecond-level performance optimization and data-driven decision-making. Laura Heisman, CMO, believes, "There are few industries more familiar with dramatic acceleration than F1. It's a perfect example of an industry where data and analytics drive performance and success."

Four Major Platform Innovations

Preventive Operations with Enhanced Davis AI

Dynatrace announced a significant expansion of its Davis AI engine, moving beyond reactive monitoring to preventive operations. The enhanced capabilities enable organizations to predict and prevent incidents before they occur through AI-driven automation. Key features include:

  • AI-powered generation of artifacts for automated remediation workflows

  • Natural language explanations and contextual recommendations for faster problem resolution

  • Automatic recommendations for configuration changes with integrated pull request generation

  • Predictive analytics combining observability data with automation capabilities

CTO Bernd Greifeneder shared his vision, "The shift from reactive to preventive operations represents the next evolution in AIOps. This is not just about earlier detection of problems or faster resolution—it's about preventing problems from occurring in the first place."

Cloud Security Posture Management

The company introduced a new Cloud Security Posture Management (CSPM) solution that unifies security and observability. This addition extends Dynatrace's existing Kubernetes Security Posture Management capabilities to provide:

  • Continuous monitoring and automated remediation across hybrid and multi-cloud environments

  • Integration with or replacement of hyperscaler-specific solutions

  • Comprehensive insights spanning applications and infrastructure

  • Automated compliance monitoring against regulatory standards like PCI DSS, CIS, and GDPR

Observability for Developers

Responding to the industry's "shift-left" movement, Dynatrace launched comprehensive developer-focused capabilities including:

  • Easy data access and exploration through intuitive dash boarding

  • Advanced log, metrics, and trace analytics powered by Davis AI

  • A new Live Debugger enabling real-time production debugging without service disruption

  • Self-service implementation model for enterprise-wide adoption

  • Integration with developer portals and IDEs

Greifeneder states, "With systems becoming more distributed and dynamic, development teams require real-time understanding of application performance, infrastructure health, and user experiences to maintain reliability and drive innovation."

Platform Engineering Enablement

Greifeneder demonstrated how Dynatrace enables platform engineering teams to provide observability as a self-service capability. This includes:

  • Pre-made templates for observability implementation

  • Automated compliance checking

  • Integration with internal developer platforms

  • Fine-grained data segmentation and access control

  • New pricing models supporting developer-focused use cases

Andi Grabner, Platform Engineering Advocate, believes, "Platform engineering is all about bringing self-service to engineers so that we can make them more efficient. How can we get observability as a self-service to them because they don't have to worry about how to set up an SLO, how to set up an alert, and how to get the logs when needed."

Customer Impact

During the keynote, Freedom Pay CTO Mark Tomlinson shared how Dynatrace's unified platform helped reduce the mean time to remediation (MTTR) from months to minutes. The company leveraged Dynatrace's business analytics capabilities to provide customers with transparent, real-time performance insights through customized dashboards.

Tomlinson shared, "Before Dynatrace... we used to wait to react to what a customer would call us and say that's been two months. Over time, in three years... we get that in a couple of hours - find, fix, remediate, and keep the customers' business running."

Vision for the Future

Dynatrace's platform innovations reflect three key industry trends:

  1. The convergence of observability and security

  2. The growing importance of preventive operations over-reactive monitoring

  3. The need to extend observability capabilities to developers through self-service platforms

The company emphasized how its Grail data lakehouse and Davis AI engine provide the foundation for contextual analytics and automated remediation across the entire technology stack. This unified approach enables organizations to handle increasing data volumes while delivering actionable insights to all teams.

Market Impact

These announcements position Dynatrace to address growing enterprise demands for:

  • AI-driven automation and predictive capabilities

  • Unified security and observability platforms

  • Developer-friendly tools supporting modern cloud-native architectures

  • Platform engineering enablement

The new capabilities are expected to be available within 90 days, with some features already in private preview. This release cycle demonstrates Dynatrace's commitment to rapid innovation while maintaining enterprise-grade reliability.

Through these announcements, Dynatrace reinforces its strategy of helping organizations transform complex digital ecosystems into business assets through AI-powered observability, positioning itself at the intersection of AIOps, security, and developer experience.
